Artist Deborah Douglas will exhibit her work at STLCC-Wildwood, Aug. 26 - Oct. 17. The community is invited to view her work and meet her during a reception held in her honor, Thursday, Sept. 5 from 4-6 p.m.
About the Exhibition:
As an artist, I work with a variety of materials, including oil, enamel, encaustic, watercolor, ink, graphite, collage, and digital prints. The consistent practice of mixing media, ideas, and formal approaches is innate and familiar for me. I, like many artists, create works that incorporate a multitude of visual culture.
My conceptual interests lie in the expansive issue of domesticity; typically including references to food, interpersonal relationships, and to cultural and societal issues of gender and sexual equality and empowerment. I address these issues sometimes darkly, sometimes with humor, though often with both.
