The Art Department here at Florissant Valley has always maintained a very high standard of excellence, reflected in the fact that we were the first two-year art school in the nation accredited the National Association of Schools of Art and Design in 1977. Our students have always done well, in transferring to the finest art schools in the nation, and representing us in galleries, museums, and in every aspect of the art industry.
This exhibition celebrates our three alumni, Aaron Fowler, Mike Shultis, and Dominic Chambers, who received their Master of Fine Art Degrees from Yale University, the premier painting school in the United States. The exhibition FV - Yale brings a substantial selection of the early work of these three artists together for the first time. Here we can see the ambitious work of these three artists produced just before they transferred to finish their BFA degrees. Each has a unique sensibility with the choice of image, scale, and media already suggesting what is to come.
